About the author

Steven Horvath

Steven spent his career as a telecommunications professional, working as an outside customer systems technician and an IBEW union electrician. For more than twenty years he served as a union steward, and a big part of that job turned out to be helping coworkers make sense of their 401(k) plans, pension options and benefits.

He retired in 2021, just after turning 50. He has no finance degree. What he knows came from reading, classes, and his own good decisions and expensive mistakes.

He wrote The Hard Knocks Series™ to hand those lessons to the next person before they have to pay for them.

“Knowledge is the only inheritance that can never be spent down to zero.”

Questions

Before you buy

Which book should I start with?

Start with the stage you're in now, not your age. If you're still getting control of a budget or debt, start with Book 1 at any age. If the basics are handled and you want to grow money, start with Book 2.

Are these real workbooks?

Yes. Each book has worksheets, checklists and trackers you fill in as you go, so you finish with your own plan on paper. They're printed 8.5 × 11 inches so there's room to write.

Is this financial advice?

No. The Hard Knocks Series™ is education based on real experience and research. For decisions about your own taxes, investments or legal matters, talk to a qualified professional.

When is Book 3 coming out?

The Advanced Wealth & Freedom Playbook is finished and coming to Amazon soon. Join the free list and you'll get an email the day it's available.

Is there a Kindle or hardcover version?

Not yet. The books are paperback only for now, because the worksheets work best on paper. Kindle and hardcover editions are planned.

Why do the numbers change every year?

Contribution limits, tax brackets and other figures change each January, so each book gets a new yearly edition with updated numbers. The free cheat sheet is updated every year too.
